From research to market
in:know was created in 2015 as a spin-off from a research group on Intelligent Control and Decision Support Systems, moving from academia to the market. From the beginning, the company carried a simple motto — we find solutions — reflecting its practical orientation: moving from complex problems to workable answers.

The company was born from years of applied research in intelligent systems, decision support, modelling, control, knowledge-based systems and organisational technologies. This origin remains part of our identity. in:know keeps a research DNA: curiosity, rigour, experimentation and the capacity to work with complex, poorly structured problems.
At the same time, our background was never purely academic. The research group that gave rise to in:know was strongly characterised by the applicative nature of its projects, working with companies, public organisations and market players in contexts where ideas had to become usable tools, demonstrators, methods and systems.
That combination defines in:know today: research-driven, but implementation-oriented.
What makes us different
in:know works at the intersection of knowledge, organisations and technology.
We help organisations gather, structure and make sense of knowledge dispersed across people, processes, data, systems and experience. From there, we create value through process redesign, dedicated IT tools, applied AI, decision support and human-centred technology.
Our work is not based on selling predefined solutions. We enter each context with an external systems view, identify patterns that are difficult to see from inside the organisation, and design practical paths toward improvement.
We are especially useful when the problem is real, but not yet fully structured.
How we work

in:know combines core strategic leadership with a flexible network of technical, scientific and organisational contributors. This structure allows us to keep a clear direction while bringing in the right capabilities for each context.
Each project is approached according to its specific nature. This allows us to move from problem understanding to practical implementation without forcing a predefined model. We assemble the team, methods and tools around the situation, ensuring that each intervention is coherent, useful and feasible.
Our work is senior, practical and adaptive: we help structure complexity, define a path forward and adjust the response as the project evolves.
Core team
Ana Veloso-Luis and Rui Neves-Silva provide the strategic and methodological leadership of in:know, connecting the company’s research background with organisational transformation and applied technology development.

Ana Veloso-Luis
Ana Veloso-Luis brings to in:know a strong background in industrial practice, organisational transformation and sustainability. Her professional experience includes the aeronautics industry, where practical execution, process discipline, reliability and action-oriented problem solving are essential. She is currently finalising a PhD in sustainability, with a focus on senior well-being.
Ana has been involved in projects such as XRCity, where she worked on the social acceptance of avatar-based interaction, and olivIA, where her contribution includes both the avatar dimension and the redesign of business processes to take advantage of AI-supported tools.
Her role in in:know is centred on organisational transformation, sustainability, human-centred change, social acceptance, well-being, process redesign and the practical adoption of new technologies.

Rui Neves-Silva
Rui Neves-Silva is the founder of in:know and has been connected to the company’s origin since the beginning. His professional path combines academia, applied research, software development and organisational decision systems. His work has focused on modelling and control, intelligent systems, human-in-the-loop decision support, knowledge-based systems and the development of digital tools for complex organisational contexts.
As an academic and researcher, Rui brings the methodological and scientific foundation of in:know. As a company founder and developer, he brings the ability to move from conceptual models to practical tools, prototypes and implementation.
His role in in:know is centred on decision systems, applied AI, software architecture, knowledge systems, R&D strategy and the translation of complex problems into structured solutions.

Our identity
in:know combines research depth with practical intervention.
We work with companies, public organisations and research consortia that need to make sense of complex situations, structure knowledge, redesign processes, develop dedicated tools and create measurable value.
We bring together systems thinking, applied technology, organisational understanding and human-centred transformation.
Our purpose is simple: to make knowledge usable.
